Eysturoy in a day

truly immerse yourself in different areas of interest if you have the time: culture,
nature, dining out, and local festivals
Welcome to Eysturoy
Fuglafjørður
Start your morning with excitement where the local
inhabitants in the past escaped to a refuge in the
mountain called ‘Uppi á Húsi’ when the pirates raided
the village. Check with the tourist centre for a guided
tour. Other attractions in Fuglafjøður are the remains of
a viking farm over a 1000 years old and the small warm
spring Varkmakelda with a tale of healing power on
certain illnesses.
Skálafjørður
Test your skills in the rough Faroese waters by
participating in a boat race in Skálafjørður. The boat
race uses rowing boats modeled from the long boats
in the Viking Era. Because these races are generally
arranged for groups, contact Visit Eysturoy for more
information about this in advance so that proper
arrangements can be made in time.
In July you
can enjoy the
unique music
festival G!
