GJÓGV
Gjógv is best known
for its picturesque
scenery dotted with
multi-coloured old
houses built around its
natural harbour, which
lies protected in the
gorge that has given
the village its name. The
local guesthouse and its
restaurant are definitely
worth a visit or a stay.
Every Wednesday night
in summer, there is a
Culture Night with a
dinner buffet, live music
and Faroese chain
dancing.
TOFTAVATN
Go for a walk around
the beautiful lake
and experience the
heathercovered hills
around it and the rich
bird life. The nearby
area has an old rectory
worth visiting, as well
as churches and a yarn
and knitwear shop,
Navia.
EIÐI
Located along a narrow
isthmus, Eiði is a lovely
village with beautiful
surroundings and
a heritage museum
called Látrið. On the
route to Gjógv, there
is a spectacular view
to Risin and Kellingin,
the Giant and the Hag,
which are two sea
stacks near the coast.
W
ith several
attractions
and
events,
you will be sure to have
a memorable experience
while in Eysturoy. If you
are visiting in July, you
can enjoy the unique
music festival G! in Gøta.
Throughout the summer,
there are local festivals,
rowing competitions,
concerts, and other
events where you get a
sense of local life.
The island is also the
home to the highest
mountain, the 882m
high Slættaratindur. The
roads in Eysturoy are well
networked and excellent
if you are travelling by car.
But there are no regular
bus
connections to the small
villages. Please check
with the nearest tourist
information centre for
weather conditions to
places such as Eiði and
Gjógv during winter and
spring seasons as the
roads may be closed

FUGLAFJØRÐUR
Start your morning with a hike to the Altar, and
return to town for coffee at the Gallery Ribarhús,
find local knitwear or souvenirs at the Old Shop -
Piddasahandil, or try one of Restaurant Muntra’s
popular fish dishes.
Relax in the hammocks at the central park where
there is often a pop-up outdoor café in summer,
stroll along the beach past the old schooner, up
to the waterfall below the Blue Mountains. In the
evening, you may even catch a concert at the
Culture House. Another attraction near Fuglafjørður
is the small spring Varmakelda known for increasing
love and passion and for its healing powers.
NORÐRAGØTA
Visit the old part of the village, its beautifully
restored farmhouse museum and the old church.
This village was home to a Viking chieftain who has
been eternalized in a gorgeous statue.
