FAROE ISLANDS info
The exhibition is located in Tórshavn, 10
minutes walk from the city centre and
with access to people with disabilities,
also to the toilet.
West of the Museum building is a
botanical garden containing around 150
of the 330 plants totally found in the
Faroes.
The first thing on display in the
Museum is the formation of the Faroes
and the traces in the landscape from the
last two iceages. The different
vegetation types are shown next,
including fungi and birds, and after that
nearly all the different fishes and
invertebrates found by the fishermen in
the Faroese area. The remaining part
includes different whale skeletons with
a special attention to the pilot whales.
The Museum shop is in the entrance
containing books and journals
concerning the Faroese nature.
