The numbers of tourists visiting the Vestmanna bird cliffs are increasing for each year, thus there is a great potential of providing these tourists with other services as well. The Vestmanna Tourist Centre already houses a very cosy restaurant by the sea, a tourist desk and a souvenir shop. Their biggest project at the moment however, is a brand new Viking Saga Museum that will contain realistic figures of the history and sagas of the Faroese. Vestmanna Tourist Centre is directing a great deal of effort into this new Viking Saga Museum, which will be ready for the summer season of 2009. A total of 17 figures will be on display in the Museum. The silicone work is done in Iceland, however the surroundings in the museum, i.e. the landscapes, backgrounds and sound work will be done by Faroese artists. The manager and one of the owners of Vestmanna Tourist Centre, Mr. Gunnar Skúvadal, is very excited about this new major attraction in Vestmanna. - We need different experiences to be on offer. Another good thing about this attraction is that it isn’t affected by the swiftly changing Faroese weather. It is always on, he says.
