- Our intention is not directly to
become the largest bus company
in the country, but we intend to
be the best”, says Mr Hans Jacob
Kollslíð – the second CEO in
this newly formed cooperation
regarding the transport of people
in the Faroes.
In May, a new cooperation saw
the light of day. This was the
merging of two older bus
companies, which have begun to
cooperate with the objective of
creating the best bus company in
the country. The companies
involved are HK-bussar and
Bussferðir. Both companies have
extensive experience regarding
the transport of people.
HK-bussar
The people behind HK-bussar
have been involved with the
transport of people for app. 50
years. The company began with
just one very small bus, and has
expanded considerably with the
times. The CEO in the beginning
was the father of the current
CEO.
HK-bussar operate some
routes for Strandfaraskip
Landsins, e.g. the national
transport company, as well as
operating a charter service from
the very day the company first
acquired vehicles.
Bussferðir
The company was established 26
years ago, so this company is
also experienced in the transport
of people.
According to their own
statement, they maintain they are
well endowed linguistically and
are capable of accepting people
from almost any nationality and
able to talk with all guests. They
are in a position to transport
unrestricted numbers of people
and reservations can be made via
the internet, enabling people to
tailor their own reservations.
New cooperation
Cooperation slowly begun in
May and both CEO’s stress the
intention is not necessarily to
become the largest company, but
to become the best of its kind in
the Faroes.
Since cooperation begun, the
company has had many tours
both domestically and abroad.
These have been to France,
England, Polen and Norway and
the company has organised many
tours round all of the Faroe
Islands.
Currently, the companies are
working to create a joint internet
website, where it will be possible
to organise almost any tour.
The new joint venture will
receive three new busses before
the end of the month. The
company employs seven staff to
operate the eleven available
busses.
- “The intention of our
participation at the Vestnorden
Travel Mart, will first and
foremost be to market our new
cooperation, and to create new
contacts within the tourist
industry, which we very much
would like to become a more
important part of ”, says Mr Hans
Jacob Kollslíð, who is the second
of the two CEO's in this new
joint venture project.
Cooperation now and in the future
