Nr. 99 • 27. mai 2009 4 Dear Exhibitor, Sailing and fishing is a part of the Faroese culture and existance. Now we welcome Fish Expo Faroes for defining and presenting the industrial aspects of fishing. By the blue sea of Tórshavn I am proud to host Fish Expo Faroes 2009. To host an international event like this is important for our industrial profile. Being a fishing and fish farming nation demands great flexibility throughout the entire fisheries sector. Faroese companies have their business abroad as well as at home. There are also locally-based compa- nies that need to be in touch with the outside market. Along with their foreign counterparts and business associates they need to meet and develop. Personal contacts are vital and, as with foootball, it is always an equal pleasure to meet on one’s own turf. As Mayor of Tórshavn it is a great pleasure to welcome the exhibitors and visitors from overseas to Fish Expo Faroes 2009 and to wish the organizers and all exhibitors a succesfull exhibition.
