Nr. 99 • 27. mai 2009 14 Our company was founded by N. L. Madsen in 1969. In 1986 the compa- ny moved into the current premises at Læssevej 18 in Hirtshals, Denmark. In 1989 N. L. Madsen retired after 20 years busy years operating his own business. On the same occasion, his son, Ivan Madsen took over the com- pany. The original name of the com- pany, Hirtshals fryse- og køleteknik, was changed into its nickname which friends, customers and staff had long ago given the founder of the com- pany: Kølemadsen Today the company has a staff of 10 competent employees and the third generation of the Madsen fam- ily, Jens Madsen, has joined the com- pany as co-owner. On land and at sea We have specialized in producing, installing and servicing freezing and refrigeration plants. In the beginning, we primarily serviced fishing vessels, but as a number of fishing vessels decreased, we expanded our area of business which now includes onshore freezing and refrigeration plants for the food industry. Denmark and abroad We work both in Denmark and abroad. We are primarily active in Denmark. Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and our work includes projects such as the Fish Terminal in Hirtshals, Denmark, as well as major freezing and refrigeration installa- tions at shrimp and crab factories in Greenland. In 1991, we completed our first major international project: an ice plant, 20 tonnes, in Latvia fol- lowed by many projects in Russia and the Baltic states. Moreover we have headed projects in most part of Scan- dinavia. We also install and service small and large air conditioning systems. In recent years, we have installed system on board fishing vessels, coastguard vessels, marine research vessels and cargo vessels. Individual solutions – flexible serv- ice. Reliable and efficient freezing and refrigeration plants is essential to preserve the quality and freshness of primary products. We have more than 40 years experience in this field and take pride in delivering high quality work. Unused refrigeration space can cost your company much money. In the long run, inefficient short-term solutions may affect your competi- tiveness adversely. We will map your company´s freezing and refrigeration capacity before we start working and are of course prepared to put in extra effort to meet your special wishes. Calculations, designs and docu- mentation are prepared both in the project and installation phases by our own engineer. We design new plant and carry out service tasks of a certain scope throughout most of the world. In re- cent years, staff members have car- ried out tasks in so different places as Greenland, Faroe Island, the Baha- mas, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Australia. One of our next projects is to re- build/convert 2 pieces of RSW-plants onboard the fishing vessel NÆRAB- ERG from refrigerant R22 to refriger- ant R507 since R22 now is phased out Always nearby. We know that it means loss of pri- mary products, working hours and profit if you have to wait for your refrigeration plant to be repaired or maintained. We are therefore ready to go to work as soon as the fishing vessel moors alongside the quay, or a defect occurs in the refrigeration plant in the production plant in the production hall.
